I do all kinds of speaking engagements: keynotes, workshops, dodging rotten fruit, etc. See my needlessly exhaustive list of past events. To inquire, just drop me an email.
College Visits
I’ve spoken to math clubs, first-year cohorts, STEM research conferences, lecture halls of understandably skittish humanities majors, and more. Past titles include “Elvis, The Dog Who Knew Calculus,” “The Unlikely Friendship of Math and Science,” and “Expected Value is Overrated.”
Professional Development
In addition to running workshops for teachers at all grade levels (from elementary to college), I’ve keynoted statewide and national conferences for educators, including ATMIM, NCCTM, and AMATYC. Always excited to add a new hulking acronym to that list.
Bookstores
I love bookstores! Invite me and we’ll make it happen.
School Visits
I’ve visited elementary, middle, and high schools from California to Finland; I love rascals of all sizes. I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and am especially happy to visit in the Twin Cities (to play math games, answer questions about writing books, or just relish the sweet anarchy of the classroom).
Corporate Events
Past visits include Google and Southwest Airlines. Mathematics is a powerful case study in the complexity of how people learn — and every company, in every industry, has things they want their employees to learn.
Birthday Parties
I’m sorry, no. Your child does not want a whimsical math teacher for their birthday party. Try the Baron of Bubble.
